One thing I like about writing in rhyme is the constraints. Constraints may not sound like a very fun thing, but they can be a lot of fun for a person who enjoys the challenges of a word puzzle. And constraints are great for the writer who wants to practice writing more concisely and creatively!

When you put limits on yourself, you have no choice but to think a little differently. For an artist, this might look like limiting your color pallet or using only basic shapes. For a writer this often means giving yourself a word limit. But it can also be writing within strict rhyme and meter constraints.

Limericks are a fun way to do that!
