It's really nice to read through your publishing journey. I have a question, if you have the time. You seem to be someone who really values God and family! How have you made time to write and pursue being published while taking care of your family? I am struggling with this at present. I really enjoy your posts!
Thank you, Martina! My kids are all grown up now, but when they were young it could be a challenge sometimes! I will say that my children were all pretty good about playing independently, and my work space was in the family room where we spent a lot of our time. So, when we were all home, I would work while they played. If I had a big project that demanded more of my time, I'd work after they went to bed. Once they were all in school and I went back to work part time, I dedicated one day a week and Saturday mornings to my writing (hubby usually worked Saturdays), and some evenings too.
The advice I give my daughters, who are both writers and raising young kids, is to write in those moments when their children aren't demanding their attention. Back when I was first starting, and my kids were very young, I saw this advice somewhere: "cleaning can be done with your kids attached to your apron strings." It's harder with writing! Though I did draft a good portion of my first attempt at a novel with my son on my lap! I hope this helps!
